The world did not see the election turning out the way it did, just as you are – we are in a state of shock.
What you need to realize is that until your political system changes, your vote does not count. The electoral vote is the one that will determine your countries future. Not you. If you want to protest anything, make it something you have the power to change.
In saying that, whether a Trump presidency will be a good thing or not…. That is yet to be seen.
But this is not what I want to talk about.
There is something scarier than the election results, and the people of this country are to blame.
This country is divided. If it continues on this path, the country will fall – and it will not be because of who is running it. Friends are turning against friends because of who they support (who they THINK they support). There is so much hate towards people that have done nothing wrong other than love a gender, or believe in a religion you don’t approve of. People are losing their minds. Why? Because someone was elected as president?
Shame on you all.
As a country, you are only as strong as the weakest link, and by isolating people because they are not white, straight, and christian…. Not only are you hurting these people, you are hurting the country as a whole. When did this become acceptable?
Why is it OK to target particular groups now?
Are you really so afraid of change that you will believe that people who are getting refugee status….. who have been going through vetting processes since before the wars are that big of a threat? Are you that blinded by your personal ‘world revolves around me’ bubble that you cant see anything that is happening out in the rest of your country? People being different should not be something you are afraid of. You should be welcoming the diversity and uniqueness of each and every person. The world would be a boring place if they were the same as you.
When I was learning about America, back in school, we were taught about how it was a country of opportunity. It was a giant mixing pot of cultures and religions, no one had to be afraid of who they were. It was a place for refugees to feel safe, and at the same time it was a place for those with business ideas and start up products to flourish. The American dream was still real, we still believed that it was the land of possibilities. Anything could happen in America.
America WAS great. I don’t know why you all are so determined to destroy it.
Treat others the way you want to be treated. It isn’t hard. The country will be better for it.
