What a lot of you don’t know is that recently I have also had a cancer scare – fortunately it was some that that was easily resolved and I’m doing okay now thanks to the awesome team at Waikato Hospital.
I was one of the lucky ones – my fitness took a bit of a hit from taking such a long time off (the complications caused me to be admitted into hospital for a bit longer than I’d have hoped), but that was the worst of it.
Since being discharged, I have had some time to think. I’ll be doing the 6km run as part of the round the bridges in November. While doing this, I will be raising funds for Hospice on behalf of my late Uncle
1300 people a year need palliative care – provided by the 105 paid staff and 650 volunteers of Hospice Waikato. This care is totally free.
Even though the District Health Board does provide some funding, Hospice Waikato is still required to raise $2 million dollars annually to provide services for the patients and their families.
Will you help?
